Security strengthened in Kandy for Tooth Relic exposition

Security arrangements have been finalized for the exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. Nearly 2,000 police personnel will be deployed to provide security to the devotees visiting the city during the exposition days, Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickramaratne said.

He revealed this when he paid a courtesy call on Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter on Tuesday in Kandy to receive his blessings. “With the establishment of peace in the country, people have shown less enthusiasm towards their own security. In this context, security divisions are showing more attention and dedication to their duties,” IGP Wickramaratne said.

FBI Offers help to probe attack on SL cricketers

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered Pakistan its co-operation in investigation of Lahore terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, to trace out the people behind this terrorist activity and bring them to task.

The cooperation was offered by Robert Mueller, Director FBI, during his meetings with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, here on Wednesday. FBI Director, who was accompanied by US ambassador in Pakistan Anne Patterson and other US officials, met Prime Minister Gilani and Rehman Malik.
